Joseph Anthony’s journey into comedy began early in life, using the sarcastic wit he inherited from his family to navigate tough times. He also found joy escaping into variety TV programs, such as The Carol Burnett Show, or listening to comedians such as Pat Cooper, on vinyl.

As the youngest sibling – and only son – of five older sisters, his Brooklyn-born mother provided him with overbearing love and a healthy dose of OCD. His Dad, born in Mola di Bari, Italy, was a captain of industry in the shipping trade, yet determined to master the fine art of gambling.

The Result? Joseph, an avid reader & “street smart” individual, can hold court with Harvard alumni AND Sing Sing inmates alike.

A snippet of career highlights includes being a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and a guest on ABC’s The View. He’s headlined top venues, such as the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ; The Wilbur Theatre, Boston, MA, Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, MI, and the Comedy Cabana in Myrtle Beach, SC, just to name a few. His acclaimed one-man show, Joseph Anthony Speaks the Truth, was a hit at the Algonquin Arts Theatre in New Jersey.

Despite his classic New York accent and proud Italian American roots, Joseph eclipses the stereotype of an “Italian comic.” He’s been called, “a modern-day Lenny Bruce” and is praised for improvisational skills that make every show unique.

Inspired by comedy legends like Pat Cooper, Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks, and Robert Schimmel, Joseph’s true-to-life storytelling takes you on a hysterical ride through his mishaps, misfortune, and life-changing events, so well-crafted for the comedy stage, that you’ll be convinced he’s made it all up.  

Though focused on quality live performances, rather than competitions, Joseph has won several, including the Carnival Cruise Lines Comedy Challenge and Howard Stern’s Kill or Be Killed. Starting work at age eleven instilled in him a lifelong commitment to producing great work!
